Are we going to finally have a modern Dragon Ball with the expansive adventure elements that fans such as myself have been pining for? While there certainly have been Dragon Ball titles with action-RPG elements before, DBZ Kakarot felt like an attempt to turn up the adventure portion of the game to a level over 9,000. The Xenoverse series admittedly tried to add some RPG elements but they honestly felt shoehorned as opposed to a full-fledged effort.Įnter Dragon Ball Z Kakarot - or Dragon Ball “Kakarooooottt!” if you happen to be a certain Saiyan prince. Given DBZ’s heightened emphasis on action, it certainly lent itself better to fighting games. Even as entries like the Legacy of Goku series gave a solid effort to come up with an RPG based on Akira Toriyama’s piece de resistance, it was the fighting games that really buttered Dragon Ball’s bread on the video game front.
